I took Ashley, the 15 year old I've babysat for 5 years now, to Rockwall for a dentist appointment. I drove her mom's Escalade so that she could watch Transformers on the way there and back because she hadn't seen it and had plans to see the second one at midnight last night.

Just as I was going from I-30 to the 635 North HOV lane I started to feel the car pulling to the right a little. I looked down to see the "check tire pressure light" come on. Within 20 seconds I started to feel the car pulling more to the right. At this point I'm on a gigantic overpass in a totally blocked in HOV lane. I start to slow down because luckily no one is behind me at this point. Within another 20 seconds it really starts pulling to the right so I slowed down even more and turned on the hazard lights. Right at that moment the wheel started shaking back and forth violently and the tire completely blows up and off the car. I was able to maintain control and come to a complete stop, but at this point I'm slightly panicked because we're completely stopped in the far left lane with no shoulder and cars are coming down from the overpass at 70 mph straight at us.

They had Onstar so we called immediately and the police were out in about 15 minutes along with a slightly rude and abrupt DART worker who changed the tire. There was a language barrier between me and the DART worker and compounding the problem was the fact that I had never driven this car before and I had absolutely no idea how anything worked or where anything was. At one point he almost stabbed their back-up sensors with a large pocket knife. Sheesh!

Thankfully we got the tire changed and we were back on our way safely. (After standing on the highway for about 45 minutes in the heat...which according to the rearview mirror was 111 degrees!). So the moral of the story is to check your tires and keep them properly inflated/without nails!
<img style="cursor: pointer; We had a movie to return so we walked up to Blockbuster (we can practically see Blockbuster from our porch) and then we walked through a neighborhood and up to the new Byron Nelson High School. We peeked in some windows and I have to say the school is awesome! I almost...ALMOST...wish I were 14 and going to school there next year. Everything is going to be so beautiful! They really took advantage of the natural landscape and created a big fountain area and a courtyard with outdoor walkways connecting the two large buildings.

Anyway...I'm now getting to the "Wilderness" part of our trek. Adjacent to the new high school is a large section of new home developments coming in. We noticed that there was a little creek with a concrete sidewalk that had been built behind these new subdivisions. We started walking down the path and we were really enjoying ourselves. Before we knew it we had been walking for about half an hour and the sun was starting to set. We figured it couldn't be much further til we came out the other side of this little path and made it back to the main road.

Then...in the distance...I saw something looking at me. And by "in the distance" I mean across a small pond. There he stood...Mr. Coyote. Just as I slowed down and pointed him out to Bryan he lifted his head and stared straight at us. He then turn and slowly walked with his head down back into some trees (which were right next to the path mind you).

So we did what any other normal people would do...we each picked up large wooden stakes that were along the path holding up a fence to use as weapons if necessary. It was starting to get dark and we'd already gone too far to know if it would be faster to turn around or keep going. So we decided to pick up our pace to a jog (while holding the wooden stakes). This "little jog" went on for at least a mile when we then saw a family of deer up ahead on the path. There was a doe, a buck, and a fawn (I think it's called a fawn). We stopped running and stood there staring at them while all three of them just stared right back at us. Then we picked up running again and all the deer took off.

Finally we came upon a little family with a stroller (so we hurried and dropped the stakes...you know to play it cool). We told them about the coyote and the deer and they asked if that's why we were running. I said we thought it was getting dark and we were trying to get back to the main road. They said their mom lived in a house just up the road and that's why they were out there. We rejoiced that we were finally back to civilization.

Then we saw the little house out in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE! We started back into our jog down the longest dirt driveway I've ever seen! We finally made it to the main road where we slowed back down to a walk! By the time we got home it was after 9:00 and we were both blistered and sore!

Because I'm a nerd here's a map of the path we took! It was actually a lot of fun...I just think next time we'll come prepared with better weaponry! Or maybe take a bike instead of going on foot.

It's cool to pee your pants

It's week 9 and I'm loving boot camp! It's been so much fun feeling like I accomplish something every morning! For the first 7 weeks or so it was pretty cold outside so I would wear cotton capri length yoga pants, a tshirt and most of the time a jacket. Well about a week or so ago it was suddenly 65 degrees outside instead of the usual 45 and I started sweating profusely during all the running. I then realized that the sweat had pooled in the crotchular region of my thick yoga pants making it appear as if I had peed in my pants. This revelation came about 10 minutes into the hour long class.

Oh yeah...I also forgot to mention that during boot camp we run laps around a Southlake elementary school...during early morning drop off. The entire time I ran I wondered how many Porshe Cayanne driving mothers thought I was a crazed lunatic running in urine soaked capris.

Since this experience I requested 3 pair of running shorts for my birthday so that I would be adequetly cooled and no longer humiliated. This technology will allow us to have a greater impact on the overall health of our community.

The technology - known as the Insight Discovery Subluxation Station - was born from a partnership between NASA and the Chiropractic Leadership Alliance (CLA), a New Jersey-based company. The Insight allows chiropractors to scan their patients' neurospinal health. These scans easily and accurately identify areas of nerve interference that may be preventing one's nervous system from operating efficiently. When one's nervous system is functioning at peak capacity, the human body has more energy, a greater resistance to disease and less need for pain. Once pinpointed via the technology, chiropractic adjustments are then utilized to remove the area(s) of nerve disruption.

NASA has used the technology to evaluate the physical attributes of astronauts. The space agency and CLA were recently praised on Capitol Hill for introducing this technology to the general public.

We can now offer proof as to the need for care and the progress that one can make while under care.

This technology got a lot of use this past weekend at two local events - the Keller KidsFest and Medlin Mardi Gras (at Medlin Middle School in Trophy Club). We had a great time getting to know more people in the community and educating them about the importance of their nervous system. Here are a few pictures from the weekend...even a giant lizard wanted to get scanned!

More Countess

I've been watching The Real Housewives of New York City. Evidently her "lifestyle" requires $53,000 per week...my kind of lady! (was that out loud?)

Anyway...I hadn't heard about her and the reason Marci had asked was because her and her husband saw the woman on the news and Scott, her husband, blurted out "She looks just like Kylea." Of course I went straight back to work and "googled" her. I'm not sure if we look alike or not...so I'll put it to a blogger vote (if anyone even reads this or cares...no hurt feelings either way).

Do I look like this woman??? If so then I'm planning to a little "bait and switch" in the courtroom. Bryan and I could really use $53,000 a week!

Come here Bandit!

For 3 1/2 years I lived in a high-rise condo in Dallas. I now live in a one story "ground level" townhome in Trophy Club. I'm happy with either...but there have been a few things that have taken some getting used to. For one, in Dallas on the 8th floor I felt that I could walk around in my underwear and if anyone in the office building across the way was there that early and or late and had chosen my window to look in with their binoculars then so be it. Heck that would be kind of flattering in a creepy way. (kidding) I also didn't have to worry about bugs. In over 3 years I only saw two that were strong enough to fly up to my balcony and through the open door. We also had a stow-away gecko from my parents house once but that's another story. The third difference has been the issue of taking out the trash. In Dallas I walked down the hall and dropped my trash bag into a magical chute never to see it again. In Trophy Club I walk 5 feet out the door and leave it on the corner of the street and then see it again in the morning...being torn open by a neighbors chihuahua. Which leads me to 2 nights ago...

Around 10pm in my pajamas I decide to go take the trash outside so I won't forget in the morning. When I get there I see across the street a raccoon digging in my neighbor's trash. I immediately put down my trash bag and run inside to get Bryan. I think raccoon's are really cute and I love their little man hands. I go in saying "Bryan! I found us a new pet! Can we keep him?" He comes outside with me and we're standing about 20 feet from Bandit (oh yeah I named him Bandit) and I'm half yelling half whispering "Hey Bandit! Come here buddy! You wanna come live with Kylea??" At the time he looked something like this:

I'm really doing all this for Bryan's entertainment fully expecting Bandit to turn and run away from the giant humans. Instead he gets up on his hind legs, looks me right in the eye, and takes off full speed straight at us. So we turn and run inside while I scream "Ahhh...maybe Bandit's is rabid!" He now (in my mind's eye) looks like this:

After calming down inside I send Bryan out with a broom to shoo Bandit away and bring our trash back in the house so I don't have to face the neighbors and anything personal that might be lurking in the bag just waiting for Bandit to put on display. We then laid in bed coming up with scenarios of Bandit waiting inside for us when we got home from work one day, or pranking us by knocking on our door and running every night. At first we were just too busy to really notice or care. Plus with Christmastime came lots of DVDs and so we had plenty to watch in the evenings. Then last week after I watched every season of The Office again I realized it was time. So today I spent 6 hours sitting around the house making small talk with the Dish Network Installer. I plan to set my DVR to record my favorite shows while sitting in my pajamas on the couch tonight :) Now our little rental can feel like home again...because what's a home without 52" of glorious trash?

Facebook Addiction

I admit that I'm addicted to facebook...I only pray that I'm not this annoying in real life.

Happy Birthday to Kimberly :)

The Birthday Girl and Brandon!

Camille and Noah! I just signed up to participate in a 2 month boot camp. Some of you may remember that I made it through 3 whole days of this program last fall...and then my knee swelled up and hurt and I had to quit. They've graciously allowed me to participate again (well...I DID pay in full for 2 months before and only use 3 days of it...but they probably could've said no and in my weakened state I would've taken it!)

All of this to say if there's anyone out there that wants to get in awesome shape with me by summertime then sign up now!!! I'm going at 6:55 am and it's in Southlake www.bod-squad.com. I lost like 6 pounds those 3 days I did participate last fall and I'm excited about the possibility of being back in shape again! I'd love some moral support though! I'll be sporting a knee brace this time and plan to take it easy on the running portion till I feel stronger. Wish me luck!

Also, sorry for the lack of blogging. My life has been crazy busy!!! Hapka Chiropractic has been open for business since the first of the year and we've already got some awesome new patients! It's been really fun to see people transform from pain ridden to pain-free and happy! We're also all moved into our new place in Trophy Club and I've been trying to make it feel more like home! I'll always love my condo in Dallas...sniffle... Trophy Club is great though, and it's especially nice to not have to constantly watch my back when going to the grocery store :)

It's also been especially nice to be back around old friends again! I feel like I've been able to reconnect with some of my lifelong friends from childhood/high school and I love that we can pick up right where we left off! My "precious" Laurie (Garrison) Frantz now lives only 10 minutes from my doorstep! After many years (9 I think...) of living miles and even states apart we're now back together! (singing) Reunited and it feels so good!

PS: Hapka Chiropractic now has it's own blog - hapkachiropractic.blogspot.com Add us to your friends list :)

I started this a week ago and I've been too busy to finish it or post it! Sheesh! We also have made the decision to see how long we can go without cable tv or internet at our new home because we already pay for it at the office one mile away and we're only home and awake like 3 hours max per day. Surely we can get by on DVDs, the Wii, Xbox and books. Which speaking of books I've become addicted to Twilight (yes I'm really late on the bandwagon...) Anyway here are my "8 things" Lists:

8 Things I Did Today…
1. Had Rachael Wise of Cymbidium Photography come take pictures of us and the office for LIVING magazine.
2. Edited the article the writer wrote for the magazine.
3. Heated up leftover cheesy spaghetti for lunch.
4. Complained about being cold.
5. Decided I could in fact wear ankle boots with a dress...I realized I was behind the times when I went shopping for myself yesterday for the first time in I can't remember how long.
6. Prepared drawings for a planning and zoning submittal.
7. Read blogs and realized I'd been tagged by Laurie.
8. Got up at 7am and looked out the window after hearing a woman's voice convinced she was in a domestic dispute...but no one was there when I looked outside...still wondering what I heard.

8 Of My Favorite Restaurants…
1. Cheesecake Factory
2. Chili's
3. La Madeline
4. The Homeplace in Abilene
5. Uncle Julio's
6. Perini Ranch in Buffalo Gap
7. Spring Creek BBQ
8. Bellini's in Dallas (just for the bread...mmm)

8 Shows I Watch(ed)…
1. Whatever stupid reality show happens to be on (Sunset Tan, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Real Housewives, The Hills, etc.)
7. We actually don't have cable right now...so I'm having a hard time remembering what I like haha
8.

8 Things I Wish For…
1. Bryan's practice to be successful
2. My friends and family to always have happiness
3. A King size bed
4. To create a fake bad wardrobe and get myself on What Not to Wear so I can get the $5,000 worth of clothes haha
5. That the news would be positive and not so "doom and gloom" all the time
6. That I would find the time to exercise more...or at all as it's been going lately
7. More hours in the day
8. That I was a little bit taller, a baller, had a rabbit in a hat with a bat...

8 Things I Look Forward To…
1. Seeing anyone I haven't seen in awhile :)

8 People I tag: Tiffany, Bonnie, Emily, and anyone else that hasn't already been tagged by this.

Humiliation Chronicles Numero Tres

In order to move on from my last post I've decided to revert back to embarrassing stories about myself....

My whole life I have LOVED going to church camp. The first camp I went to was ACU Learning to Lead when I was in second grade. It was so great! After that week I got a chalk board for my bedroom at home that would have a daily and weekly countdown until the next time I got to go to camp. It got to where people at church would ask "How many days?" and I'd be able to say "237 days" immediately without hesitation.

There was really only one time when I was about 12 that I didn't just love a camp session. I definitely enjoyed my time there, but it wasn't the same as the other camps I had been to. This session was extremely conservative. The other girls I came with and I were the only ones who hadn't packed for "knee length" shorts only if you catch my drift. I also didn't realize that I would need to wear a t-shirt over my swimsuit during girls swim time...fear of fostering lesbianism I assume.

At this camp there were only 4 showers for 3 bunks of girls...so about 60 girls were sharing 4 showers. Towards the middle of the week we decided to get up extra early so we wouldn't have to wait in line for our showers. The way the showers were arranged was two on each side of the bathroom with a bench in between for waiting. They had those magnetic glass doors on them that everyone would hang their towel over so the group waiting wasn't getting a peep show.

While I was in the shower a group of 8 or so girls had formed waiting on their turn. This group included my friend Julie. Somehow as I bent down to shave my leg I lost my balance and fell towards the shower door. Instead of the door breaking my fall it swung open and I flopped down naked right in the middle of the group of girls and watched as my Skintimate shaving cream rolled across the bathroom.

My first response was to laugh hysterically. We were a very comfortable in our own skin kind of group...then as I lay laughing, wet, and naked on the disgusting floor I realized I was the only one laughing. I don't think the other girls had ever seen someone naked...including themselves. So I gathered my dignity as best I could and crawled back into the shower...while saying "Julie, could you get me my shaving cream?"

A Life Well Lived

This week a piece of my heart has felt broken. The former preacher at Prestoncrest, Prentice Meador, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday. I was fortunate enough to attend Prestoncrest for the last two years that Prentice was the Senior Minister there. Prentice was the kind of speaker that could completely capture my attention, heart and soul for the entire message. I felt on so many occasions that God must have told him exactly what to say that week because it would apply so directly to what was happening in my life at the time. He had a habit of pointing his index finger when he spoke and even as I would sit in an audience of 1,000 people I felt that he was pointing at me. His messages were always relevant, current, and most importantly personal.

Prentice also reminded me so much of my own "Pappaw". Pappaw was, like Prentice, the kind of man that could reach in and capture your heart. Growing up I can remember attending Bible classes Pappaw taught, hearing him lead singing, and even seeing him sit in his chair with his Bible in his lap going over notes and scripture with someone in the family. Prentice and my Pappaw were so similar in their speaking style and personality.

My Pappaw passed away my sophomore year at ACU and even though it's been 5 years I still miss him so much. I sit here right now watching Prentice's funeral via the Internet with my heart aching for his family knowing the loss they are feeling right now.

His son just read an excerpt from a letter Prentice wrote to his grandson for his 13th birthday. These are the words that Prentice said to his son, that are also the same words my Pappaw has written on my heart:

Devote your life daily to Jesus Christ.

Next to Jesus devote yourself to your family.

Guard your heart.

Read the Bible everyday.

Pray, pray, and then pray more.

Be loyal, laugh and enjoy life.

Keep your word.

I didn't write this post to bring everyone down, but instead to remind myself of the importance of a life lived through Jesus. So often I get bogged down by the things that don't even matter and lose sight of God. So as I go through feelings of sadness at the loss of another great man, I can remind myself of the greater place that they are both now in.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place I am going." -Jesus, John 14:1-4

Humiliation Chronicles Part Deux

Okay, so I have another funny "Humiliation Chronicles" story. This one dates back to around 1994 during a church Super Bowl Party. There was a time when on Super Bowl Sunday our church would bring in a huge big screen TV and everyone would watch the game together with a break for regularly scheduled worship during half time (of course). It was always so much fun to get to run around the church for hours at night while our parents all sat downstairs eating nachos and watching the game together.

I was around 11 years old and not really that interested in the game this one particular year. So Lara Seibert and I decided to rummage through the children's ministry supply closet upstairs. We saw all the things we knew were there like puppets, robes to look like they were from Bible Times, Brandon and Chris' Phone Booth from their Bill & Ted skits.... and then we found the greatest treasure of all - a full body zip up lamb costume that fit me like a glove. (see photo for example of costume)

I immediately put on the costume, headpiece and all, and zipped it up fully. We could not stop laughing at how ridiculous I looked...it even had a little tail on the butt and covered my feet with what looked like hooves. So we did the only thing I could think to do next...I went downstairs to show my Dad just how funny I looked in the costume.

I saw him sitting perfectly on the edge of the crowd in a folding chair watching the game. I admit I felt a little awkward in the costume, so this was perfect. I could slip in undetected, show him the costume, and slip out without being seen by anyone else. So Lara waited safely 50 feet away down the hall (so as not to be associated with me) while I tiptoed up to my Dad. I came at an angle just right to come up behind him, slide my arm tightly around his neck and say in my best sheep impression "Baaaaaaaa....(looking at his face now) you're not my Dad!!!!!"

I still don't even know who that man was that I hugged in a lamb costume. After saying, "you're not my dad!!" I turned around and ran away yelling to Lara down the hall "He's not my Dad! He's not my Dad!"

Humiliation Chronicles

Another one of my favorite parts of "The Pioneer Woman" is her section titled "The Humiliation Chronicles". I can really related to her! I have so many of these moments! Looking back now they're really funny to me...so I'll take a cue from her and share one that some of you may have heard before.

This is the tale of the misplaced panties...

In sixth grade I was what could be considered a very passionate kid. I was convinced that I was to find true love before I became a 14 year old "Old Maid". There were a couple of eighth grade boys that were my targets for this true love. In true stalker fashion I mapped out their daily passing period paths and planned my own in order to "coincidentally" cross paths with them as much as possible. (Especially on days when I had a new pair of leather tasseled loafers and a GAP vest on).

One of these paths required that I walk around the exterior perimeter of the school so I could casually bump into them as they exited the building to come to a class in a portable. One day as I was strutting my stuff alone (because this path was totally out of the way for all my classmates) I noticed something pulling at the bottom of my pants. I shook my leg a little and out dropped a pair of my panties onto the sidewalk! AHHH! Panic ensued. I could hear from around the corner the door opening and voices nearing. I had to think quick...what should I do?

I couldn't put the panties in my book bag because they would easily be discovered when I got to my next class and had to take out my books. I couldn't fit them in my pocket because I hadn't discovered thongs yet and granny panties are larger than Guess jeans pockets. I was left with one choice...to shove the panties up the gutter.

That's right...there next to me was the spout of the rain gutter. Just before they rounded the corner I managed to get the panties safely in the gutter. Safely until it rained a week later and my wet panties were stuck to the sidewalk right where all my fellow middle schoolers would wait for their moms to pick them up. For days I made comments to my friends like "Ew gross! Who would leave their panties on the sidewalk?" No one ever knew they were mine...until now. So to the janitor that probably had to scrape them up and throw them away, "I'm sorry. I had no other choice".

Yearbook Yourself

I read a blog (linked to the right) called "The Pioneer Woman" and she had these photos of her dog on there. First off we signed a lease on a little 2 bedroom town home type thing in Trophy Club. I'm really looking forward to moving in and getting settled...unfortunately we won't be moving in until December 1st at the earliest. They are totally remodeling the unit that we're moving in to so we have to wait until they put in all new flooring, texture & paint the walls, put in new light fixtures, new cabinets, toilets, sinks, etc etc etc. It's great that we're getting a place that will be all new on the inside but this means we will be staying at the Blake Hotel for several weeks because the girl renting our condo is moving in November 7th. So just when Pam and Skip thought they were rid of me for good...I'm baaaack!

Secondly we signed all the paperwork to open the business checking account and more importantly our line of financing has come through and we can officially start buying all the stuff we need for the practice. We've had salespeople calling for weeks nagging us to place our orders but we didn't want to do anything until we knew 110% that the money was there. So now we get to shop like crazy and pretend that we don't have to pay it all back (at least let me pretend for a few days so as not to have a heart attack!!!) It finally feels like we are no longer "spinning our wheels" and can actually start crossing things off our eternally long "to do" list.

So if you need me I'll either be packing, moving, remodeling the office, shopping for chiropractic goodies or working to still be able to pay the bills!

Palin Power

In the words of Paris Hilton, "Loves it."

So GROSS!!

Remember this next time you think you're having a bad day. She's mailing the lease and deposit this week. We're waiting to finalize any of our moving plans until we get the deposit just in case she backs out, but I doubt she will. Right now we think it will be November 1st when we move out, but we went ahead and started taking things off the walls and packing up stuff we don't use yesterday.

I'm feeling excited and nostalgic all at the same time! I can't believe I bought the condo 3 years ago! At the time I thought it would take forever to have lived there three years and now it seems like it was just yesterday that I drove over to the sales office on my lunch break to put down the earnest money I had saved up living with my parents! This is also the first home Bryan and I had as a married couple! But now we will probably get two bedrooms and more importantly two bathrooms! Woo hoo! No more waiting on our turn! haha

Home Sweet Home

In case you don't know we're looking to rent out our condo so we can move closer to Southlake and I can retire from my 60 mile per day commute. If you know anyone that might be interested in a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom high rise condo in Dallas let me know! It's on Turtle Creek in Uptown Dallas. The location is awesome especially if you work downtown or go out in Uptown. It's really nice and I think I'm going to be a blubbering idiot the day we move out cause I love it so much. It's just probably better for us to move.

You can tell all your friends, family, hairdressers, accountants, and so on about the fabulous amenities such as TWO swimming pools, a hot tub, 24 hour fitness center, valet parking, 24 hour on site security guards, free cable, etc etc etc...

I'm putting pictures (I took them myself so they aren't that great). I've been off in a totally different world the past few days and haven't been caught up with anything funny that's going on in pop-culture. Bryan and I went to a 3-day chiropractic seminar...nothing funny there. Then I taught kindergarten at church yesterday...nothing really funny there either. So I'm reverting to a youtube video I loved over 3 years ago. My senior year of college I had a class that spent an entire semester developing a marketing plan for First Financial Bank to reach out to more hispanic people. This project was really time consuming and we spent many many late nights up in the Journalism department working on our plan and presentation. We were also working on our Aisha dance. We got addicted to watching this video and then imitating the dance at the end. I highly recommend that you do the same! So watch this and then try and do the moves yourself...if you have kids get them involved too...I'd love to see some little Aisha dancers out there!

Gays:1, Kylea:0

Don't you just love a Sunday afternoon? You get home from church and slip on your pajamas, draw the shades, crank up the AC, turn on good movie and fall fast asleep before the opening credits have completed. This was my plan today. Bryan and I went to early service at church after a late night at the Ranger Game. I was exhausted by the time I got home and finished eating my La Madeline takeout. I started to nap only to have it interrupted by the sounds of Cher, horns honking, engines revving and loud yelling. I decided this could make a good blog. What is this you ask? It's the annual Gay Parade that goes on either side of the building we live in. So today I came out of the closet...with my video camera so I could share some of the gay parade with my blogging friends.

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v18.nonxt8.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Dbb63f5944eb85b5b%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1331335085%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D71BADBA3282C587E2F1BEAE754E9CB35AD6A67D9.6BF4E8255FBABFEC2055EFD15C118B3CA631F5C1%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Dbb63f5944eb85b5b%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DUUvCpUtIFWNCgUTo7iBsWzlycig&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Drop it like it's hot!

This is what I call customer service... I admit that I can really get into politics. I definitely have my opinions on how I think things should be and what I'm looking for in a President or Vice President. While I think everyone should stand for what they believe in, I think we should keep in mind that we still have to live with each other when this election is over. So to keep my political blog light I've added a clip that I think is hilarious. McCain ran an ad saying Obama is a celebrity but he's not ready to lead. He uses images of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears in the ad. Paris released a response "ad" and I have to admit it's funny. So enjoy a little Paris Hilton...and don't worry she's mostly clothed in this internet video.

See more funny videos at Funny or Die

Goodbye Coney Island?

I read online that they are closing the Astroland Amusement Park at Coney Island for good. I had the opportunity to visit Coney Island this summer with Jaime and Lara. We first tried to attend a taping of Regis and Kelly only to discover that they were not taping that day. With the whole day in NYC ahead of us I had the bright idea to go check out Coney Island. I was expecting a major freak show with people "barking" at us and that we'd take a few rides on some really old attractions, get some pictures with the bearded lady, and purchase some souvenir postcards . I overlooked the fact that it was 9:30am on a Monday. Evidently the party doesn't (or I guess I should say "didn't") get started until noon. So we dipped our toes in the Atlantic, ate a hot dog brunch, attempted a "break-in", and walked down a vacant boardwalk. If they demolish it all I guess I'll be able to tell my kids I saw it before it was gone.

Who is Russell Brand?

I'm trying to watch the MTV VMAs..."trying" being the key word here. So far I am not impressed. If anyone knows who Russell Brand is please let me know. His opening is a bunch of liberal "Brits hate Americans/Bush" garbage. Here are some of my key recap points/questions:
1. When is Katy Perry's 15 minutes up? I can't believe Miley arrived with her...come on now Cyrus...get it together!
2. They spread rumors all week about Britney "opening" the VMA awards and all she did was a really lame skit with that little Seth Rogan look alike Jonah somebody that was worse acting than her days on the Mickey Mouse club and then she said 2 sentences into the microphone.

3. Bryan just said, "Who's that?" I said, "Demi Moore". He obviously doesn't share my tabloid news obsession.
4. Why are the Jonas Brothers performing in the back lot? I'm praying that they are avoiding all the trash within the walls of the studio. It looks like they're sitting on the stoop from Sesame Street. This is maybe not the coolest way to break into the MTV scene...I'm just saying.
5. Pull up your pants Lil Wayne.
6. I'm impressed with Jordin Sparks standing up for the "promise ring wearers"! Maybe there's hope for the youth of America after all.

7. And finally I noticed that evidently the Pee Wee Herman suit is back in style. Did it ever leave really? Here are a few photos of stars sporting the tight gray suit:

Super Fan

I have a secret addiction to Miley Cyrus. Yes I am 25 years old and most likely too old to be in Miley's target demographic, but I absolutely love her new CD "Breakout" and I drive Bryan crazy staying up late watching her YouTube channel "MileyMandy" where her and her best friend Mandy make "The Miley and Mandy Show". I was recently ridiculed by my friends for admitting that I dreamed it was me instead of Mandy and it was our YouTube show..."The Miley and Kylea Show". I think it has a nice ring to it! So yes...I am a dork. I can at least relate well to Camille now. So in Miley's honor I have embedded my favorite Miley and Mandy show episode. (Every time I hear this song come on the radio I really say "I'm Miley Cyrus only got 4 minutes".) I have also included footage of her singing my favorite song from her new CD. Maybe I can recruit some more Miley fans (as if she needs more fans).

Goodbye Toby!!

I am a huge fan of the show The Office. I live for every episode and cannot wait to see what happens with Jim and Pam (Jam) this fall. My mom is also a huge fan of the office and the two of us have been relentlessly watching this clip, singing this song, and yes even dancing like Michael all summer long! If you've ever been in a situation where you get to move on from something or someone that was driving you crazy then you too will probably appreciate the humor in this clip. For those of you who aren't fans of the show (shame on you) in this scene they are throwing a going away party for the HR rep of the company, Toby. Michael, played by Steve Carell, hates Toby with a passion and is beyond ecstatic that Toby is moving to Costa Rica. Throughout all four seasons of the show Toby will always correct or disagree with everything Michael does...which of course drives Michael crazy. Enjoy a little "Goodbye Toby".

Confessions of a Blog Stalker

So I've been spending a lot of time reading OTHER people's blogs over the past several months. Several of them are saved in my bookmarks folder on my personal computer and each night I run down the list to see what's going on with everyone. I figured it was high time I started a blog of my own so that someone could stalk me...I mean because that only seems fair. The blogging trend to me has seemed to be for moms who want to keep their families updated on every poop their baby takes. Since I don't have a baby I'll just describe every poop my husband takes. Gross...just kidding.

Speaking of my husband, he is officially a Doctor of Chiropractic!!! Woo hoo!!! We met three years ago...literally his first week in Chirorpactic school and now he has graduated! Look out for Hapka Chiropractic in Trophy Club, Texas. We're hoping to have it open by mid-October.

We also just celebrated our 2nd Anniversary on August 19th! For those of you who might be doing the math...we got married 11 months after we met! Looking back that was probably a little crazy, but it has worked out great and I couldn't have married someone more perfect for me :) Well that's it for me today. I just wanted to get the blogger ball rolling for now.
